""'.. --- .,.., <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />6~ <br />. \, <br /> <br />MARCH 26, 1985 <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an <br /> <br />Executive Session to (1) consider nominees for appointment to the Dan River VASAP <br /> <br />Executive Board; (2) consider a personnel matter; and (3) consider a legal matter. <br /> <br />Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no actions on these matters. <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted the following resolution entitled, "A Resolution <br /> <br />Adopting the Articles of Agreement for the New River Criminal Justice Training <br /> <br />_. <br /> <br />Academy and Authorizing the Representatives of the City of Martinsville on Said <br /> <br />Board to Take Such Action as may be Necessary to Effectuate Said Articles"; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville is a member of the NEW RIVER <br />CRIMINAL JUSTI~E TRAINING ACADEMY; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville's representatives have all <br />voting and participating rights, privileges and benefits <br />thereof that all participatory jurisdictions may have; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, THE City of Martinsville is desirous that the NEW <br />RIVER CRIMINAL JUSTICE TRAINING ACADEMY be administered <br />according to existing legislation passed by the Commonwealth <br />of Virginia Legislature as set forth pursuant to provisions <br />under Section 15.1-21 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA, 1950, and as <br />promulgated through the Department of Criminal Justice <br />Services; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Martinsville does hereby adopt <br />these "ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT" for the NEW RIVER CRIMINAL <br />JUSTICE TRAINING ACADEMY in their entirety and authorizes its <br />representatives on said Board to take such action as may be <br />necessary to effectuate said Articles. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a communication (addressed to Mayor Cole) from <br /> <br />The Honorable Mason A. Vaughan, Sr., Chairman of the Pulaski County Board of <br /> <br />Supervisors, urging the Council to initiate and sponsor--as is now being done <br /> <br />by the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors in Pulaski County--a local fund drive <br /> <br />to solicit and collect voluntary contributions, for relay to the American Red <br /> <br />Cross, to help relieve the hunger and suffering among the peoples of eastern <br /> <br />Africa.
