<br />4; <br /> <br />TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1986 <br /> <br />..."-. <br /> <br />matter, which Mr. Groden contended, appeared to be inter-related with Mr. Dallas' <br /> <br />request. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted Ordinance No. <br /> <br />86-11, as accepted on first reading at Council's November 11th meeting, which adds <br /> <br />Sections 14-5 and 14-6 to the City Code and thereby provides for adoption by the <br /> <br />City Police Department of distinctive uniforms as well as prohibits the wearing of <br /> <br />-, <br /> <br />like uniforms by other than police personnel, effective May 1, 1987. The ordinance <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session held November 25, 1986, that Section 14-5 Distinctive <br />Uniform and Section 14-6 Wearing of Same or Similar Uniforms by Other Than <br />Police Officers be added to Chapter 14 Police of the City Code, as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 14-5. Distinctive Uniform. <br /> <br />The Chief of Police shall cause to be designed, and with the <br />approval of the City Manager, shall adopt a distinctive uniform with <br />appropriate insignia for the use of the police officers of the City <br />Police Department. Such uniform, when adopted, shall be worn by all <br />such police officers assigned to the Uniform Division, and other such <br />officers when appropriate, while on regularly scheduled duty and at <br />such other times as the Chief may designate. <br /> <br />Sec. 14-6. Wearing of Same or Similar Uniforms by Other Than Police <br />Officers. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />When an official uniform has been adopted by the Chief of Police, <br />no prison guard, correctional officer, security guard, conservator of <br />the peace, special policeman, private detective, or other person in <br />the City, shall wear any uniform identical with such official uniform <br />or so similar in appearance as to be likely to deceive the casual <br />observer. <br /> <br />Violation of this section shall constitute a Class 1 misdemeanor. <br /> <br />Also upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted-~as <br /> <br />amended--the following ordinance (Ordinance No. 86-12) which revises Section 5-39 of <br /> <br />the City Code, as amended, and pertains to "noisy" dogs within the City: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session held November 25, 1986, that Chapter 5, Article III, Dogs, <br />Section 5-39, Barking or Howling Dogs, of the City Code be and is hereby <br />amended, as follows: <br />
