<br />r4 <br /> <br />FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1986 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the results of said election were certified by the Electoral <br />Board to the Circuit Court of the City of Martinsville, Virginia; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Court has entered an order proclaiming the results of said <br />election, and a duly certified copy of such order has been transmitted to <br />the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in a <br />duly-called special session held on November 7, 1986, that the various <br />work, sales and business activities formerly prohibited on Sunday by <br />Section 18.2-341 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, commonly known <br />as the Sunday Closing Law, be, and the same hereby are, allowed in the <br />City of Martinsville, Virginia; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that an emergency exists and that this ordinance <br />shall take effect on and after November 8, 1986. <br /> <br />ORDER <br /> <br />It appearing to the Court that order entered August 22, 1986, required a <br />referendum on the application of the Sunday Closing Law pursuant to <br />Section 15.1-29.5, Code of Virginia, 1981 Replacement Volume in the City <br />of Martinsville, Virginia. And it further appearing to the Court that <br />said referendum duly held on November 4, 1986, as follows: <br /> <br />"Shall the various work, sales and business activities presently pro- <br />hibited on Sunday by Section 18.2-341 of the Code of Virginia (commonly <br />known as the Sunday Closing Law) be allowed in the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia?" The vote yes was 2520 and the vote no was 1611. <br /> <br />WHEREUPON, it is the determination of this Court that the question is duly <br />carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk shall submit a duly certified copy of this Order to the City <br />Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia. <br /> <br />ENTER: 11/6/86 <br /> <br />Frank I.
