<br />~10 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1986 <br /> <br />minutes of August 12, 1986, page 345), Council designated City Manager Brown as <br /> <br />the City's representative at the hearing, to make a presentation on behalf of <br /> <br />City Council and the Council's support of the project which, in the Council's <br /> <br />expressed opinion, will be of considerable benefit to the City and its <br /> <br />citizens. <br /> <br />Council rescheduled (from November 7th) its planned 1986 tour of City <br /> <br />facilities to Tuesday, November 25, 1986, beginning at 12 o'clock noon. <br /> <br />Responding to Councilmen McClain's and Groden's inquiries, respectively, City <br /> <br />Manager Brown presented status reports on (1) the Smith Lake Road Project and <br /> <br />(2) the schedule for installing street-lights and signs along the recently <br /> <br />completed Mulberry Extension Project. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of subsections (a)(l) and (a)(2) of Section <br /> <br />2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an <br /> <br />Executive Session for the purposes of (1) considering nominees for appointment <br /> <br />or reappointment to certain agencies and commissions (or committees) and (2) <br /> <br />considering the possible sale of certain City-owned real estate. At the con- <br /> <br />clusion of this Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular session and <br /> <br />unanimously reappointed Ms. Trudy A. Williams as an Alternate Member of the <br /> <br />West Piedmont Planning District Commission's Technical Advisory Committee and <br /> <br />unanimously concurred in Mayor Oakes' recommendation that a special committee <br /> <br />be appointed to study and report on the need for, and feasibility of, <br /> <br />constructing and operating a multi-purpose community center for Martinsville. <br /> <br />Appointed to this special study committee were Messrs.
