There being no objections registered by any citizen <br /> <br />against these petitions, Mayor Oakes declared the public hearing closed; <br /> <br />whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council--in acceptance <br /> <br />of the Planning Commission's recommendations that the petitions be granted-- <br /> <br />adopted the following ordinance effecting the requested rezoning(s) and, also, <br /> <br />amending the City's Zoning Map accordingly: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville be--and is hereby--amended to the extent that Lot No. <br />lA-2 at 310 Brown Street and Lot No. 3-B at 315 Mulberry Street <br />Extension are hereby rezoned from R-6 Residential to P-2 <br />Profess ional. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, <br />this ordinance shall be in force on and after September 26, 1986. <br /> <br />Because of the failure of The Martinsville Bulletin to publish notices in <br /> <br />accordance with written instructions from the Clerk of Council, predicated on <br /> <br />statutory requirements, a public hearing (originally scheduled for this <br /> <br />meeting) on Adkins Construction Corporation's application for a Special-Use <br /> <br />Permit (to allow applicant to construct a 62-unit townhouse complex off the <br /> <br />west side of Spruce Street, south of Corn Tassel Trail) was cancelled and <br /> <br />rescheduled for Council's next regular meeting to be conducted Tuesday, October <br /> <br />14, 1986, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the <br /> <br />following ordinance (identified as Ordinance No. 86-7, as introduced and placed <br /> <br />on first reading at Council's September 9th meeting) which amends Section. 24-5 <br /> <br />of the City Code to permit the Martinsville Senior High School ROTC unit to <br /> <br />conduct marksmanship and firearms training at the school: <br /> <br />,-""".--,_.~""--""--,~-"".._------~'---,.,.".,~.~...,._' <br />
