<br />THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1986 <br /> <br />".--" <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor L. D. Oakes presiding, was held Thursday, September 25, <br /> <br />1986 (rescheduled from Tuesday, September 23, 1986), in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members were present, viz., L. D. Oakes, <br /> <br />Mayor; Clyde L. Williams, Vice-Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr.; Alfred T. Groden; <br /> <br />and Allan McClain. <br /> <br />,.- <br /> <br />After the invocation and Mayor Oakes' cordial welcome to visitors present, <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved of the minutes of its regular meeting held <br /> <br />September 9, 1986. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a <br /> <br />petition filed jointly by Dr. & Mrs. J. R. Wheless, III, and Mr. & Mrs. Eugene <br /> <br />N. Touchstone seeking the rezoning of Lot No.9 at 305 and 307 Brown Street <br /> <br />from R-6 Residential to P-2 Professional. There being no objections registered <br /> <br />by any citizen against this petition, Mayor Oakes declared the public hearing <br /> <br />closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council--in <br /> <br />acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation that petition be <br /> <br />granted--adopted the following ordinance effecting the requested rezoning and, <br /> <br />also, amending the City's Zoning Map accordingly: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville be--and is hereby--amended to the extent that Lot No. 9 <br />situated at 305 and 307 Brown Street is hereby rezoned from R-6 <br />Residential to P-2 Professional. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency eXisting, <br />this ordinance shall be in force on and after September 26, 1986. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-published notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />Mrs. Pauline P. Lawson's petitions seeking the rezoning from R-6 Residential to <br /> <br />379 <br />
