?h'
'" ;)

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1986

Ordinance, Council unanimously authorized City Manager Brown to execute a

contract between the City and Greater Commonwealth Development Corporation for

the installation of utility and street improvements, pursuant to terms of said

Subdivision Ordinance, along a section of the proposed extension of Lanier Road

which, eventually, is designed to connect with Meadowview Lane.

Supplementing his report at Council's August 26th meeting regarding proposed

improvements to the intersection of Fayette Street with West Church Street and

Memorial Boulevard, City Manager Brown (by report dated September 3, 1986)

apprised Council of results of a meeting held September 2, 1986, between City

representatives and representatives of the State Highway Department, in which

meeting plans for the aforementioned project were reviewed and several changes

in or revisions to were made. Too, Mr. Brown reported, it is

possible for the Highway Department to acquire the needed right-of-way for the

right-turn lane under an "accelerated right-of-way acquisition" procedure and,

after a required public hearing, the City could proceed with the construction

of the right-turn lane under a schedule which calls for (1) completion of final

plans for the total project by end of November, 1986, (2) conducting required

public hearing in January of 1987, and (3) construction by the City of the

---~---"---,,--~,---,,.._"-~-,.,,-_._._.-

-_..__...,,-------_._~--,_._-_.._--
