<br />36~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 1986 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />proceeding with "interim" improvements to the extent of the City's 5% share of <br /> <br />the cost of the TSM Project (i.e., 5% of projected $900,000.00 cost, or <br /> <br /> <br />$45,000.00), or even to a greater extent subject to being reimbursed, City <br /> <br />Manager Brown expressed confidence that reimbursement would be forthcoming for <br /> <br />right-of-way costs but expressed reservations as to being reimbursed for any <br /> <br />other costs the City might underwrite in attempting to provide advance relief <br /> <br />and improvements at this intersection; and, referring to the forthcoming Sep- <br /> <br />tember 2nd meeting with Highway Department representative on the TSM Project, <br /> <br />mentioned in his written report, City Manager Brown indicated that he will <br /> <br />report thereon to Council at its forthcoming September 9th meeting. Mr. Joseph <br /> <br />E. Finley, of 1658 Roundabout Road, present at this CounCil meeting, expressed <br /> <br />pleasure at CounCil's efforts and actions toward expediting the proposed TSM <br /> <br />Project and to returning Beaver Street to its former two-way status. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a notice of a meeting sponsored by the Virginia <br /> <br />Department of Highways & Transportation, scheduled in Salem, Virginia, Septem- <br /> <br />ber 5th, at which meeting the findings of the Commission on Transportation in <br /> <br />the Twenty-First Century will be made public. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt, with appreciation, of a Rental AsSistance Program <br /> <br />Report for the City's fiscal year ended June 30, 1986. <br /> <br />Council also acknowledged receipt of a report entitled, "Appendix B -_ Compari- <br /> <br />son of Applicants and Hires", as a supplement to and clarification of the <br /> <br />recently-presented Personnel Office Report, with Vice-Mayor Williams noting the <br /> <br />City's efforts to provide equal opportunity for employment and with City <br /> <br />Manager Brown indicating a commitment to improve the employment ratio between <br /> <br />races. <br />
