Earle W. Greene and Bobby Nicholston seeking M-1 <br /> <br />Industrial zoning of Lot A and Lots Nos. 17 through 24 situated on the east <br /> <br />side of Cherry Street, between Boden Street and East Church Street. There <br /> <br />being no objections to this petition registered by any citizen, Mayor Oakes <br /> <br />declared this public hearing closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unani- <br /> <br />mously carried, and with Vice-Mayor Williams and Councilman Cole noting that <br /> <br />the proposed development by petitioners of the property requested rezoned will <br /> <br />lend itself to upgrading and enhancing this area or section of the City, Coun- <br /> <br />cil accepted the Planning Commission's recommendation (by report dated July 21, <br /> <br />1986) that the properties be so rezoned and, in so doing, unanimously adopted <br /> <br />the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Map to reflect said <br /> <br />rezoning: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is hereby--amended to the extent <br />that Lot A situated at the intersection of Cherry Street with East <br />Church Street is hereby rezoned from C-3 Commercial to M-1 Indus- <br />trial and Lots Nos. 17 through 24 fronting the east side of Cherry <br />Street (between Boden Street and the aforesaid Lot No. A) are hereby <br />rezoned from R-9 Residential to M-1 Industrial.
