.50 TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 1986 ..- Upon motion by Councilman Groden, duly seconded by Vice-Mayor Severt, Council unanimously adopted a resolution approving the location and major design features of the proposed Spruce Street project as prepared by the Department of Highways and Transportation, said resolution also requesting the Department to acquire all necessary rights-of-way. WHEREAS, a public hearing was conducted on May 20, 1986, in the City of Martinsville by representatives of the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation after due and proper notice for the purpose of considering the proposed location and design of Spruce Street from 0.54 miles East Hunting Ridge Road to 0.01 miles West Prospect Hill Drive, Project 0650-120-101, PE-I01, RW-201, C501 in the City of Martinsville, at which hearing aerial photographs, drawings and other pertinent information were made available for public inspection in accordance with State and Federal requirements; and WHEREAS, all persons and parties in attendance were afforded full opportunity to participate in said public hearing; and WHEREAS, representatives of the City of Martinsville were present and participated in said hearing; and WHEREAS, the Council had previously requested the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation to program this project; and WHEREAS, the Council considered all such matters; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, does hereby approve the location and major design features of the proposed project as presented at the public hearing; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Martinsville requests the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation to acquire all rights-of-way necessary for this project conveying these rights-of-way to the City of Martinsville at the appropriate times.
