TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 1986

.-

Council also recognized and presented tokens of appreciation to the following former

employees who retired from City employment during the quarter January-March, 1986:

Mrs. Ardene W. Lawless, Senior Office Associate, Public Works
Department, January of 1954 through March of 1986 (32 years
and 2 months);

Dewey Wayne Hampton, Sergeant, Police Department, October of
1956 - February of 1986 (29 years and 4 months, disability);
and

--

Frank L. Draper, Jr., Assistant Fire Chief & Fire Marshal,
Fire Department, August of 1969 - December of 1985 (16 years
and 4 months, disability).

On behalf of the Police Department, Police Chief Terry L. Roop presented tokens of

appreciation to Mr. Hampton as well as to Oscar D. Robertson, former Complaint

Officer, who recently retired because of disability.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved--as recorded--

the minutes of its regular meeting held March 25, 1986.

Pursuant to duly-published notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a proposal

to amend the City's 1985-86 budget to provide funds in the amount of $3,160.00 for

additional improvements to facilities being constructed in the basement level of the

City's Municipal Building for the Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court. There

being no objections registered by any citizen to the proposed amendment, Mayor Cole

declared the public hearing closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously

carried, Council appropriated said sum for said purpose from General Fund Surplus.

In the discussing of the foregoing matter and motion, Councilman Oakes went on

record as being opposed to providing an office in City Hall for members of Council,

as recently proposed by City Manager Brown.

_.

237
