<br />236 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 1986 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, April 8, 1986, in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., <br /> <br />William C. Cole, Jr., Mayor; Eliza H. Severt, Vice-Mayor; Alfred T. Groden; L. D. <br /> <br />Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />After the invocation and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome extended to visitors present, <br /> <br />Council recognized Martinsville Senior High School's Boys Basketball Coach, Robert <br /> <br />C. ("Husky") Hall, and members of the 1985-86 boys basketball team, and presented to <br /> <br />them a framed copy of the following resolution, unanimously adopted, congratulating <br /> <br />them for having recently won the 1985-86 Virginia State Group AA basketball champion- <br /> <br />ship: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on March 15, 1986, the boys basketball team of Martinsville <br />Senior High School won the State Group AA basketball championship for <br />1985-86; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, over the past twenty-three years, boys basketball teams from <br />Martinsville Senior High School have won thirteen district titles, <br />twelve regional titles, and seven Virginia State Group AA championships; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled, that it does proudly congratulate the 1985-86 <br />boys basketball team of Martinsville Senior High School upon winning the <br />1985-86 Virginia State Group AA basketball championship; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that it does recognize and con- <br />gratulate this team's coaching staff and, especially, Coach Robert C. <br />("Husky") Hall, not only for having been acclaimed 1985-86 "Coach of <br />the Year" for the Piedmont District but also for his outstanding <br />guidance and leadership during his coaching career of twenty-nine years <br />in the Martinsville City School System, the last twenty-three years of <br />which he has served as Head Basketball Coach; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that a copy of this resolution be <br />filed with Coach Hall, his staff, and his 1985-86 boys basketball team. <br />
