<br />34 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 1986 <br /> <br />City Manager Brown reported that he, Councilman Groden, and Finance Director <br /> <br />Richard Fitts recently examined with City Treasurer John W. Bouldin, Jr., the on- <br /> <br />going operations of the Treasurer's office and that the recommendations set <br /> <br />forth in the study report recently prepared by Manning, Perkinson, Floyd & Com- <br /> <br />pany, CPA's, relating to said operations, are being complied with for the most <br /> <br />part and (that) compliance with the few remaining recommendations will soon be <br /> <br />achieved. In acknowledging receipt of this report with appreciation, Council <br /> <br />commended Treasurer Bouldin for his cooperation and successful efforts in this <br /> <br /> <br />matter. <br /> <br />Council unanimously agreed to include in the City's forthcoming 1986-87 budget <br /> <br />the sum of $3,702.00 for the City's membership (dues) in the Virginia Municipal <br /> <br />League for said year, pursuant to the League's recent notice of an increase of <br /> <br />7~% in membership dues. <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of a recommendation (of approval) from the City's Plan- <br /> <br />ning Commission, Council unanimously called for a duly-advertised public hearing <br /> <br />to be conducted by Council at its forthcoming April 8th meeting on a petition <br /> <br />filed by Mrs. Pauline Lawson seeking the rezoning from R-6 Residential to P-2 <br /> <br />Professional of Lot A situated at 313 Mulberry Road (Extension). <br /> <br />Pursuant to a request filed by The Honorable Junius P. Warren, Judge of the <br /> <br />Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court, and subject to compliance with <br /> <br />statutory requirements governing the amending of budgets, with the required pub- <br /> <br />lic hearing thereon scheduled for Council's forthcoming April 8th meeting, Council <br /> <br />unanimously appropriated the sum of $3,160.00 to finance the cost of certain im- <br /> <br />provements--not heretofore scheduled--in the basement area of City Hall (Municipal <br />
