,.....

23e

TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 1986

-

Building) currently being renovated for usage by Judge Warren and the J&DR District

Court.

Councilman Williams, noting the rapidly-escalating cost of sickness-health insurance

premiums, suggested that preventative measures be undertaken to reduce the incidence

of sicknesses among City employees, such as a "wellness" clinic. Councilman Williams

also urged that, where possible, the City undertake measures to reduce sub-standard

--

housing within the City and, also, to divert the flow of water run-offs from a cer-

tain property owned and/or occupied by an elderly widow.

In response to an inquiry from Vice-Mayor Severt, City Manager Brown indicated that

he will address, in his forthomcing recommended budget for 1986-87, Mrs. Severt's

recent suggestion that consideration be given to possibly employing by the City of

a Safety Director. City Manager Brown also commented, in response to an inquiry from

Mrs. Severt, on current considerations being given to meeting both present and anti-

cipated (future)demands upon City and Henry County sewage treatment facilities, with

Mr. Brown indicating that he will prepare and present to Council a full and complete

report on this subject matter in the near future, including a "status" report (as

recently requested by Vice-Mayor Severt) on the proposed "third" sewage treatment

--

plant along Marrowbone Creek and on facilities to divert City sewage to the Henry

County Public Service Authority's sewage treatment plant near Koehler, Virginie.

After citing an example of the fine public service being rendered by a local organ-

ization known as "CONTACT", Mayor Cole declared this meeting adjourned.

W.

of Council

ADDENDUM:
Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Counc-i-l- ointed Hrs. Robert E.
Rider (Mrs. Wanda Rider) to membership on the City's Social Services Adminis~rative
Board for the unexpired term of Hr. Joseph H. Vicars (deceased), 'vhich ends June 30, 1989.

1':" ~:~:Z" ~~~: ~lerk f C "1

-~~ 0 ounCl
