Yeas: (5) Cobbe, Reynolds, Roop, Ferrill, Clark. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br />Scott Kizner, City School Superintendent, gave an overview of the <br /> <br />upcoming "Martinsville is Learning" event on Saturday, April 22nd, from 10:00 <br /> <br />a.m. to 1 :00 p.m. where the schools will transform Uptown Martinsville into a <br /> <br />school without walls. There are over 34 venues and over 110 activities planned <br /> <br />for the day. <br /> <br />Council next heard the monthly update from the Martinsville-Henry <br /> <br />County Economic Development Corporation. Mark Heath indicated that there <br /> <br /> <br />are still 14 active projects-three directly with the City and five at the shared <br /> <br /> <br />sites in the Patriot Center. He mentioned the prospect visit to the Rives Road <br /> <br /> <br />site recently and thanked city staff, especially Public Works, for helping to <br /> <br /> <br />make the site more presentable. On April 24th at 3:00 p.m. in Council <br /> <br /> <br />Chambers, the EDC will present their shell building proposal at a joint meeting <br /> <br /> <br />with Council and the Henry County Board of Supervisors and the ribbon <br /> <br /> <br />cutting for the revenue-sharing lots in the Patriot Centre is scheduled for April <br /> <br /> <br />27th at 3:00 p.m. The target date to have the virtual shell building program up <br />and running is the end of June. <br />
