~
u
.r.

December 13, 2005

Beth Braswell of the Martinsville-Henry County EDC Office expressed her

support of the program indicating that it has only been in existence for one

year. She stated that an actual shell building is the best draw to get them to

the community, but the virtual building adds to the package. Once completed,

the virtual building can be sent electronically to prospects and will also be

available on the EDC's website.

Eddie Cassady, Police Captain, gave a brief update on the growmg

concern of the deer population in the City. He indicated that he has contacted

Jay Jefferies and Matt Knox with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries

for suggestions and they are willing to come and assist in developing a

management plan. Also, he has talked with Matt Hankins about producing a

video to show on MGTV22 giving advice to citizens concerning alternative

plants and shrubs that are not as appealing to the deer. Council Member

Ferrill indicated that he would still like to hear what specific options are

available and their associated costs. Council Member Roop agreed that we need

to look at the issue more closely and after we feel like we have done all we can

do, then we will have an explanation for the citizens. Dan Collins, City

Manager, requested that a couple of options be developed with costs and bring

back to Council at an upcoming work session.

Vice Mayor Reynolds left the meeting at 1 :27 pm.
