<br />.J " <br /> <br />June 28,2005 <br /> <br />amended, revised, and re-ordained, in its entirety, text as given <br />herein. <br /> <br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions <br />of this ordinance be and the same are hereby appealed. <br /> <br />BUILDING CODE ORDINANCE <br />An ordinance to adopt by reference the 2000 Edition of the Virginia <br />Uniform Statewide Building Code; and to adopt various <br />administrative provisions, including permit fee schedules. <br />ARTICLE I. SCOPE <br />Sec. 1.1. Ordinance Adoption <br />The 2000 Edition of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code <br />(USBC) and as may be amended, including all addenda, codes and <br />regulations adopted by reference therein are hereby adopted and <br />incorporated into this ordinance as if they were set forth herein <br />verbatim. <br />Sec. 1.2. Administrative ReQulations <br />The administrative provisions of the USBC along with the <br />provisions herein shall govern the implementation and enforcement <br />of this ordinance. <br />Sec. 1.3 Applicability <br />The provisions of this ordinance shall apply to any construction, <br />reconstruction, alteration, conversion, repair, maintenance or use of <br />buildings and installation of equipment therein. <br />Sec. 1.4 Requirements Not Covered by Code <br />Any requirement necessary for the safety, strength or stability of <br />any existing or proposed installation or for the safety of the <br />occupants of a building or structure not specifically covered by this <br />ordinance shall be determined by the Building Official subject to <br />appeals to the Board of Appeals. <br />ARTICLE II. ORGANIZATION <br />Sec. 2.1. Inspection Division <br />There shall be maintained in the Department of Community <br />Development a Division of Inspection, which shall be under the direct <br />supervision of an employee of the department referred to as the <br />Building Official. <br />Sec. 2.2. Personnel Appointments <br />The Building Official shall be appointed by the Director of <br />Community Development. The Building Official may appoint such <br />assistant as provided for in the annual budget, with the approval of <br />the Director of Community Development. <br />Sec. 2.3. Qualifications of Personnel <br />The qualifications of the Building Official and assistants shall meet <br />the minimum requirements of Sections 104.0 and 105.0 of the <br />USBC. <br />
