Roup M Martinsville RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has modified the Revenue Sharing Program in 2005 to allow a one-time opportunity for cities and towns to participate; and WHEREAS, $50 million is available statewide for eligible maintenance and construction projects under the program to be matched on a 50/50 basis by localities, with $1 million being the maximum state share per anyone locality; and WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville has significant maintenance needs at the Starling Avenue bridge and the Commonwealth Boulevard bridge estimated at $1.3 million, both locations being along major thoroughfares and said work being eligible as a project under the Revenue Sharing Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville desires to participate in the VDOT Revenue Sharing Program and apply for funding for the bridge repair work; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled on July 12,2005, that it does hereby authorize the City Administration to make application to VDOT for funding of the bridge repair projects up to the $1 million maximum state share with total cost of the project to be matched on a 50/50 basis by local funds. ******* Attest: Susan N.
