.186 <br /> July 18, 2004 <br /> <br />region's cultural heritage and enjoy the benefits evident in the arts' <br />contribution to the quality of life of all citizens, brightening lives with color, <br />sound, and sensation; and <br />WHEREAS, Piedmont Arts Association has earned the highest possible <br />recognition for its excellence in professionalism and outreach by <br />accreditation through the American Association of Museums; and <br />WHEREAS, fewer than one in 20 museums is certified and accredited <br />through the museum association and only 41 facilities in Virginia have <br />received this honor, an accreditation process completed over three years <br />of work by Piedmont Arts Association's staff, board, and volunteers; and <br />WHEREAS, Piedmont Arts Association will celebrate the honor with the <br />public during celebrations on July 16 and 17, 2004, with exhibits, events, <br />performances, and displays; now therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />session assembled July 13, 2004, that it does hereby commend Piedmont <br />Arts Association and its affiliated staff, volunteers, and agencies on its <br />accreditation by the American Association of Museums, and all citizens <br />are encouraged to show support and appreciation for the arts and the <br />association. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of rules of parliamentary procedure. Eric Monday, <br /> <br />City Attorney, highlighted the work session of July 8, 2004, regarding this matter. <br /> <br />Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the Sturgis Standard Code of Parliamentary <br /> <br />Procedure; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br /> <br />members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Clark, Cobbe, Ferrill, Reynolds, Roop; Nays (0) <br /> <br />- None. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption, on first reading, of Ordinance 2004-14 amending <br /> <br />Section 12-111 (b) of the City Code relating to reimbursement of expenses incurred in <br /> <br />DUI and other traffic accidents. Mr. Monday stated that the General Assembly adopted <br /> <br />legislation raising the maximum reimbursement rate from $100 to $250. Council <br /> <br />Member Ferrill moved to adopt such Ordinance 2004-14, on first reading; the motion <br /> <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br /> <br />0; Yeas (5) - Clark, Cobbe, Ferrill, Reynolds, Roop; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> <br />
