June 22, 2004 <br /> <br />the Chamber; and two representatives appointed by The Harvest <br />Foundation; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the Coalition for Economic Progress shall adopt <br />such procedures and rules of order as it deems necessary or advisable to <br />conduct Coalition business. <br /> <br />Council conducted the Neighborhood Focus Meeting - Westside area. Brenda <br /> <br />Prillaman, Customer Service Coordinator, presented the Customer Concerns report for <br />June 2003 through June 2004. Mayor Teague declared the Neighborhood Focus <br />Meeting open. With no response, he declared the meeting closed. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of a Resolution declaring the Martinsville Fire & <br /> <br />EMS Department at 65 West Chumh Street the official location for all Flag Day <br />ceremonies in the future. Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the following <br />Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br /> <br />members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) <br /> <br />- None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Fire & EMS Department has taken extreme <br />pride in re-landscaping and placing a flag pole in front of their facility <br />during the week of June 7-14, 2004, at 65 West Church Street; and <br />WHEREAS, they have volunteered to assist with Flag Day each June 14; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Department's Color Guard has received training from the <br />3rd United States Infantry Regiment, "The Old Guard", at Fort Myer, <br />Virginia; and <br />WHEREAS, the fire department's physical location is more conducive to <br />accommodating a large number of people attending the Flag Day <br />ceremony; and <br />WHEREAS, the department's lawn has a wonderful shade tree for <br />protection against the sun on bright sunny days and in the event of <br />inclement weather, the ceremony can be moved inside; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session assembled June 22, 2004, that it does declare the <br />Martinsville Fire & EMS Department at 65 West Church Street the official <br />location for all future Flag Day ceremonies. <br /> <br /> <br />
