June 8, 2004 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on June 8, 2004, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning <br />at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Gene Teague presiding. Council Members present included: <br />M. Gene Teague, Mayor; Terry L. Roop, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Joseph R. <br />Cobbe, Bruce H. T. Dallas, and J. Ronald Ferrill. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Ferrill and Pledge to the American <br />Flag, Mayor Teague welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the minutes of the May 7, 2004, May <br />11, 2004, May 17, 2004, and May 25, 2004, meetings as presented; the motion was <br />duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0: <br />Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption, on second reading, of Ordinance 2004-8, <br />amending certain sections of Article Ill, Public Dances of Chapter 4 of the City Code. <br />Wade Bartlett, Interim City Manager, highlighted the Ordinance. Vice Mayor Roop <br />moved to adopt, on second reading, the following Ordinance 2004-8; the motion was <br />duly seconded and carried by the following roll call vote, with all members voting: Vote <br />5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br /> regular session held on May 25, 2004, that Article III. Public Dances of <br /> Chapter 4 of the City Code be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> ARTICLE III. PUBLIC DANCES <br /> <br /> Sec. 4-30. Permit--Required; application; fee <br /> (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to maintain, conduct or operate <br /> any public dance in the city, without first obtaining from the city manager a <br /> permit, in writing, permitting the same to be held. Any person desiring to <br /> hold a public dance shall make application to the city manager at least <br /> fifteen (15) working days in advance of the time the same is to be held; <br /> <br /> <br />
