May 25, 2004 <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the following Consent Agenda item; <br />the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members <br />voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> A. Set a Public Hearing for June 8, 2004, to receive applicants for an <br /> interim appointment to the City's School Board. <br /> <br /> Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virqinia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br />by Vice Mayor Roop, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br /> A. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to specific legal matters <br /> requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as authorized by <br /> Subsection 7. <br /> B. Appointments to Boards and Commissions, as authorized by <br /> Subsection 1. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each returning member of Council <br />certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements <br />were discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified <br />in the motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered <br />during said Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took no action. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their regular <br /> meeting, upon motion by Council Member Cobbe, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br /> Mayor Teague declared the meeting adjourned at 12:18 A.
