March 23, 2004 <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Roop moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly <br /> <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yays <br /> <br />(5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville, Virginia, is entitled to receive <br />assistance payments for the maintenance of eligible streets under <br />the State Functional Classification System as set forth in Section <br />33.1-41.1 of the Code of Virginia; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of <br />Transportation procedures for adding urban streets eligible for <br />maintenance payments under the State Functional Classification <br />System as set forth in Section 33.1-41.1 of the Code, it is <br />necessary that a request by Council Resolution be made in order <br />for the Department to consider said revisions; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled March 23, 2004, that it does <br />hereby request the Virginia Department of Transportation to add as <br />eligible mileage for Collector/Local street maintenance payments, A <br />Street from the intersection with First Street to the intersection with <br />Second Street for a total net increase of 0.14 lane miles as shown <br />on the attached U-1 Form, said street being located in and <br />maintained by the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />Council reviewed current City Code as it relates to the regulation of dangerous <br /> <br />dogs. Mr. Monday reported that the City is already regulating this issue as much as it <br /> <br />can. Vice Mayor Roop moved to request the Virginia Municipal League to do a <br /> <br />nationwide search of localities' regulations regarding this issue; the motion was duly <br /> <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yays <br /> <br />(5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a public hearing and authorizing the Interim City <br /> <br />Manager to sign the application regarding a Community Development Block Grant for <br /> <br />the rehabilitation/demolition of a number of single-family, owner-occupied units in <br /> <br />various neighborhoods throughout the City of Martinsville.
