January 27, 2004 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia, in regular Session assembled on January 27, 2004, after <br /> hearing a presentafib'~ of the L6h~'Rahge Transp0r~ation Plan by <br /> the Virginia Depa~Ch~r~[ of Transportation, does hereby approve the <br /> Plan and its use as a long range planning tool in meeting the local <br /> transportation improvement needs. <br /> <br /> Council c0nsid6i'ed cbiiductir~j a I~ublic bearing and approving, on first reading, <br />of Ordinance 2004-4 oh a ~e~best by the Planning Commission to update Appendix A, <br />Subdivision Ordinan6e, of th~ City Code. Mr. Knox stated that this update is to simplify <br />the ordinance and make it easier to read. Mayor Teague declared the Public Hearing <br />open. John Sanders, of 308 Starling Avenue, spoke in opposition, encouraging Council <br />to postpone action until meeting attendance is better. He suggested, also, to include a <br />brief synopsis when public hearings are advertised. Mayor Teague declared the Public <br />Hearing closed. Council Member Dallas moved to approve, on first reading, of <br />Ordinance 2004-4; the motion was duly seb0nded and carried by the following roll call <br />vote, with all ~h~ibers Voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br />Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered an d'~late from the Mayor concerning meeting with the <br />Chairmen of the Heiiry Couhty Board of SuperviSe'r§ and the Coalition for Economic <br /> <br />Progress as i'b~ted at the la~st Council rfieefing.
