June10,2003 <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption, on first reading, of Ordinance 2003-8 amending <br />Chapter 21 - Taxation to add Article IX - Cigarette Tax. Council Member Dallas moved <br />to adopt, on first reading, Ordinance 2003-8 as presented; the motion was duly <br />seconded and carried by the following roll call vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br />0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption, on first reading, of Ordinance 2003-9 amending <br />Chapter 21 - Taxation to add Article X - Transient Lodging Tax. Vice Mayor Roop <br />moved to adopt, on first reading, Ordinance 2003-9; the motion was duly seconded and <br />carried by the following roll call vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br />Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to modify the proposed budget by reducing <br />expenses to maintain the proposed fund balance; the motion died for lack of a second. <br />Mayor Teague surrendered the chair to Vice Mayor Roop at 9:40 P. M. Mayor Teague <br />moved to modify the proposed budget by increasing the School System's appropriation <br />by $88,000; the motion died for lack of a second. Mayor Teague reclaimed the chair at <br />9:45 P. M. Vice Mayor Roop moved to adopt, on first reading, Ordinance 2003-5 as <br />amended to establish the City's Budget and Tax Rates for Fiscal Year 2004; the motion <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call vote, with all members voting: <br />Vote 3 - 2; Yeas (3) - Dallas, Roop, Teague; Nays (2) - Cobbe, Ferrill. <br /> <br /> Council considered conducting a Public Hearing for the purpose of <br />receiving/interviewing citizens interested in appointment to two positions on the School <br />Board.
