213 <br /> <br />June 10, 2003 <br /> <br />Joseph Finley, of 1658 Roundabout Road; and Charles Davies, of 1234 Mulberry Road. <br />Mayor Teague declared the Public Hearing closed. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. Mr. Koumparakis spoke in support <br />of Dr. Ingram and Mr. Finley for appointment to the School Board. <br /> <br /> Council Member Cobbe stated that education is a high priority to him and <br />Council; there just is not enough money to go around. <br /> <br /> Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br />by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br /> A. Appointments/Reappointments to various Boards/Commissions, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> 1. Drug Task Force of Martinsville & Henry County <br /> 2. Patrick Henry Community College <br /> 3. School Board <br /> B. Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took no action. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their regular <br />meeting, upon motion by Council Member Ferrill, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br />Mayor Teague declared the meeting adjourned at 1:03 A.
