August12,2003 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is of the opinion that the most effective <br />method for the collection of delinquent taxes and revenues is the <br />employment of an attomey to assist the City Treasurer; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Attorney has agreed to assist the City <br />Treasurer in the collection of these taxes and revenues, now, <br />therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Martinsville in <br />regular session assembled August 12, 2003, that the City Attorney <br />is authorized to contract with and empowered to assist the <br />Treasurer in the collection of such delinquent taxes and revenues <br />as the Treasurer shall, in her sole discretion, deem it desirable to <br />seek his assistance; that the City Attomey shall, as the Treasurer's <br />designee, be vested with all the statutory powers vested in the <br />Treasurer for the collectiOn of such taxes and revenues, and that <br />the City Attorney shall be paid for his services, and the collection of <br />such taxes and revenues pursued, in accordance with Section 21-4 <br />of the City Code. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of a Resolution in support of the Continuum of Care <br /> <br />Steering Committee of the West Piedmont Planning District. Vice Mayor Roop moved <br /> <br />to adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br /> <br />following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, <br /> <br />Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville officially <br />recognizes the Continuum of Care Steering Committee of the West <br />Piedmont Planning District, formed in the year 2003 as the agent to <br />develop a regional Continuum of Care Plan and Application; and <br />WHEREAS, the Continuum of Care Steering Committee of the <br />West Piedmont Planning District intends to develop certain items <br />needed in order to submit for and be eligible to receive Continuum <br />of Care grant funding from the U. S. Department of Housing and <br />Urban Development, these items including a gap analysis, point in <br />time survey, priorities development, and overall continuum of care <br />plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Continuum of Care Steering Committee of the <br />West Piedmont Planning District intends to acquire funding from <br />various sources in the regional community and state in order to <br />develop the necessary effort, studies, and plan necessary to make <br />the application for funds; and <br /> <br /> <br />
