July 10, 2001 <br /> <br />Council Member Roop moved to adopt the following Consent Agenda items; the <br /> <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br /> <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> Accept and appropriate the following in the City's FY2000-2001 <br /> Budget, the following: <br /> 1. $500 from a State Grant into Revenue 01101918-480403 - <br /> DMV Grant for Bike Rodeo for Expenditure 01313090- <br /> 506100 -Transportation Safety Commission in the General <br /> Fund. <br /> 2. $18,729 from a State Grant into Revenue 16101918-416505 <br /> - VA Center for Technology Grant for Expenditure <br /> 16577367-508012 - Physical Plant Expansion/Fiber Optic <br /> Network in the Capital Reserve Fund. <br /> Accept and appropriate in the General Fund of the City's FY2001- <br /> 2002 Budget, the following: <br /> ~ 1, $1,500 contribution from an anonymous donor for the <br /> purchase of three digital cameras for the Police Department <br /> into Revenue 01100908-480401 - Donations/Police for <br /> Expenditure 01311085-506104 - Non-Capital <br /> Equipment/Police. <br /> <br /> City Manager Reynolds presented a staff report regarding an update on the <br />Liberty Street/Clearview Drive project. He stated that the documents required to do the <br />York Street/corporate limits project are in hand and that Mattern & Craig has been <br /> <br />advised to proceed with the plans. <br /> <br /> In regards to a Martinsville Bulletin editorial of July 8, 2001, Council Members <br /> <br />voiced the following: Council <br />personally resent statements <br /> <br />Member Ferrill- "displeased with the editorial and <br />that I'm not doing all that I can do for economic <br /> <br />development;" Council Member Roop - "very disappointed with the editorial; under the <br />discussion of City services, many issues are our responsibility by virtue of the City <br />Charter;" Vice Mayor Teague -"three main topics of our strategic planning session <br />were economic development, revitalization of neighborhoods, and the City's relationship <br /> <br /> <br />
