July 10, 2001 <br /> <br />with the County [of Henry];" Council Member Dallas -"the City Manager is allowing staff <br />to ride with me next week to look at certain areas;" and Mayor Crabtree - "extremely <br />unfortunate and inaccurate, did nothing to promote the good of the community." <br /> <br /> Tom Harned, Assistant to the City Manager for Community Development, <br />introduced George Hayfield, a new employee with the Community Development Office. <br /> <br /> Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br />by Council Member Roop, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br /> A. Appointment to the Piedmont Community Services Board, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 1. · ...... , <br /> B. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual litigation, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> C. Personnel matters under the jurisdiction of the City Manager, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> D. A prospective business or industry or expansion of an existing <br /> business or industry where no previous announcement has been <br /> made, as authorized by Subsection 5. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following actions: <br /> <br /> A. No action. <br /> B. Vice Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following Resolution; the <br /> motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with <br /> all members voting: Vote 4 - 0 - 1; Yeas (4) - Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br /> Teague; Nays (0) - None; Abstain (1) - Crabtree: <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia, in regular session on July 10, 2001, that the City Attorney <br /> be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to file a timely and <br /> <br /> <br />
