May 22,2001 <br /> <br />public health, safety, convenience and welfare of its citizens and to <br />plan for the future development of the community, that the Zoning <br />Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- and is hereby -- <br />amended to the extent that Parcels 34(3G)17R of the Zoning Map <br />of the City of Martinsville, located at 603 E. Church Street, is <br />hereby rezoned from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional; and City <br />staff shall approve any future parking revisions affecting the front <br />yard. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a Public Hearing and adopting a Resolution <br /> <br />regarding the conveyance of City-owned real property (22 East Church Street - formerly <br /> <br />known as Tultex) to the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia. Council Member Roop moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion <br /> <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br /> <br />0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session held on May 22, 2001, that the City <br />Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to execute <br />on behalf of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, on or after May 23, <br />2001, that certain deed of the same date from the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, conveying Lot "4Y" lying on the south side of <br />Church Street in the City of Martinsville, Virginia, to the Industrial <br />Development Authority of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />according to the terms and conditions set forth in said deed. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption, on emergency basis, of Ordinance No. 2001-3 <br /> <br />amending Chapter 13 - Offenses-Miscellaneous, Article I - In General, Section 13-43 - <br /> <br />Place used for illegal drugs a nuisance; presence at such nuisance of the City Code. <br /> <br />David Worthy, City Attorney, prepared this amendment after reviewing the current <br /> <br />Ordinance for clarification as requested by Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Andy <br /> <br />Johnson.
