April 10, 2001 <br /> <br />being enforced. Council requested that the City Manager schedule a work session <br /> <br />regarding rental certification following budget sessions. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a Public Hearing and adopting an Ordinance on a <br /> <br />request by the City to rezone three parcels (10, 11, and a portion of 12) in the Deerfield <br /> <br />Acres Subdivision (Stage C), located at the end of the proposed extension on <br /> <br />Independence Drive (to be known on the Tax Map as Section 47(1 ) 10, 11, 12), from M- <br /> <br />2 Industrial to R-6 Residential, Wayne Knox, Planning, Zoning, & Housing Manager, <br /> <br />stated that the Planning Commission did not receive any public comments and <br />unanimously approved this recommendation on March 22, 2001. Mayor Crabtree <br />declared the Public Hearing open. With no response, he declared the Public Hearing <br />closed. Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the following Ordinance, on an <br /> <br />emergency basis; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call <br /> <br />vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br /> <br />Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, is regular session assembled, that in order to assure <br />compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.2-2200, it is stated that <br />the purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to promote the <br />public health, safety, convenience and welfare of its citizens and to <br />plan for the future development of the community, that the Zoning <br />Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be - and is hereby - <br />amended to the extent that Parcels 47(1 )10, 11 and a portion of 12 <br />on the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, in the Deerfield Acres <br />Subdivision (Stage C), located at the end of the proposed extension <br />of Independence Drive, is hereby rezoned from M-2 Industrial to R- <br />6 Residential. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a Public Hearing and adopting an Ordinance on a <br /> <br />request by the City to amend the Proposed Land Use Map of the City's Comprehensive <br /> <br /> <br />
