March 13, 2001 <br /> <br />Council Member Roop stated that these are some of the best projects that the City has <br /> <br />done. Mayor Crabtree declared the Public Hearing open. Gloria Hylton, of 402 Second <br /> <br />Street, stated that she and her husband are in full support; she read a letter of support <br /> <br />and submitted it to Mr. Knox with pictures. Mayor Crabtree declared the Public Hearing <br /> <br />closed. Vice Mayor Teague moved to support the grant application; the motion was <br /> <br />duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; <br /> <br />Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of a Resolution requesting the Virginia Department <br /> <br />of Transportation to add eligible lane mileage for collector/local street maintenance <br /> <br />payments to the City. Vice Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following Resolution; the <br /> <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br /> <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville, Virginia, is entitled to receive <br />assistance payments for the maintenance of eligible streets under <br />the State Functional Classification System as set forth in Section <br />33.1-41.1 of the Code of Virginia; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of <br />Transportation procedures for adding urban streets eligible for <br />maintenance payments under the State Functional Classification <br />System as set forth in Section 331.-41.1 of the Code, it is <br />necessary that a request by Council Resolution be made in order <br />for the Department to consider said revisions; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled March 13, 2001, that it does <br />hereby request the Virginia Department of Transportation to add as <br />eligible mileage for Collector/Local street maintenance payments, <br />the extension of Blankenship Road, Pebble Road and Stoney <br />Court, and to delete a section of Moss Street and Townes Street, <br />for a total net increase of 0.92 lane miles as shown on the attached <br />U-1 Form, said streets being located in and maintained by the City <br />of Martinsville. <br /> <br /> <br />
