271 <br /> <br />November 28, 2000 <br /> <br />1. $36 from Carillon for physical examination reimbursements <br />for the Fire Department into Revenue 01100908-482901 - Miscella- <br />neous for Expenditure 01321102-503111 - Physical Exams. <br />2. $1,144 from a Federal grant for the Schools into Revenue <br />18102926-418231 - Vocational Ed/Cad Perkins Grant for Expendi- <br />ture 73001003-568150 - HS Vocational Program/Equipment. <br /> <br />Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br /> <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br /> <br />by Council Member Roop, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />Appointments to various Boards/Commission, as follows: <br />1. Patrick Henry Community College Board <br />2. Clean Community Commission <br />3. Planning Commission <br />Consultation with legal counsel regarding a specific legal matter, as <br />by Subsection 7. <br /> <br />Council recessed at 10:45 P. M., and convened as the Martinsville <br /> <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Authority Member Roop moved to adopt the <br /> <br />following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, <br /> <br />with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; <br /> <br />Nays (0)- None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville and Henry County area has been <br />experiencing various business closings, downsizing, etc. in recent <br />months, thereby creating a high unemployment rate; and <br />WHEREAS, Nationwide Homes is desirous of expanding its <br />present operations on Rives Road, thereby creating 175 new jobs; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />owns land in the Rives Road Industrial Park which is adjacent to <br />the current location of Nationwide Homes; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority, in regular session assembled on November 28, 2000, <br />that it does hereby authorize its Chairman to execute a deed gifting <br />fifteen acres of land in the Rives Road Industdal Park to Nationwide <br /> <br /> <br />
