By general consensus with no <br />vote taken, Council requested the City Manager to look at economic options if the City is <br />unable to continue our efforts with the County and instructed the Mayor to write a letter <br />to Chairman Mike Seidle [County of Henry Board of Supervisors] requesting a meeting. <br /> <br /> Council considered a request by Judge Junius Warren that the City assume <br />certain responsibilities and expenses related to the installation and operation of a video <br />teleconferencing system for the Martinsville Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court <br />Room. Steve Draper, Sheriff, stated, "This system would be very much like the video <br />magistrate. We've spent approximately $4,596 so far this year that could be <br />eliminated." Mayor Crabtree stated, "The actual request is for installation of three ISDN <br />telephone lines, continuing monthly charges for these lines, any per minute charges for <br />the lines, and any courtroom or clerk's office renovations that may be required or <br />desired." Council Member Dallas moved to authorize the expenses; the motion was <br />Vote 5 - 0; <br /> <br />duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br />Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, .Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption of a Resolution requesting a review of the Post <br />Office's policy regarding a safety issue involving the placement of mailboxes. Council <br />Member Roop moved to approve the following Resolution; the motion was duly <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; yeas <br />(5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville values the safety and <br /> convenience of its citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council <br /> by some of its citizens, especially the elderly, that there are some <br /> safety concerns related to the placement of mail boxes within the <br /> City, particularly along Liberty Street which is in the process of <br /> <br /> <br />
