<br />'~8 <br />~-, <br />_U <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 9~ 1976 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsvi1le~ <br /> <br />Virginia~ with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Tuesday~ March 9, <br /> <br />1976~ in the Council Chamber~ City Hal1~ beginning at 7:30 P.M.~ all <br /> <br />members being present~ viz., Harry L. Boaz~ Mayor; William D. Hobson, <br /> <br />Vice Mayor; G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />After the invocation~ Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of <br /> <br />its regular meeting held February 24~ 1976. <br /> <br />With reference to a petition filed by G. Randolph Wells, et als~ in <br /> <br />the Circuit Court of Henry County under date of January 14, 1976, and <br /> <br />as acknowledged by City Council at its regular meeting held January 27~ <br /> <br />1976~ which petition seeks the annexation to the City of 12.841 acres <br /> <br />of land situated adjacent to the City's east corporate limits on Route <br /> <br />57 East~ City Manager Noland reported that--should the Court grant the <br /> <br />petition--there might be some twenty-five children of school age from <br /> <br />that area to transfer to the City School System for which group the <br /> <br />City might expect $6,500.00-to-$7~000.OO additional funds from the <br /> <br />State of Virginia. City Manager Noland also reported that, although <br /> <br />the City might incur no additional direct costs for po1ice-fire-refuse <br /> <br />services to the area, the City could expect to spend some $1,800.00 <br /> <br />to provide street-lighting facilities along Chatham Road (Route 57 East) <br /> <br />and, too~ some $56~000.00 to install a gravity-flow sewer main to serve <br /> <br />that portion of the area not now provided sewer service by the Henry <br /> <br />County Public Service Authority.
