S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, on Tuesday, February 22, 1955, at 7:30 P.M., all members, as follows, <br /> <br />be:ing present: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett; and CounciL~en C. P. Craig, <br /> <br />B. H. Hill, W. T. Turner, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />Hinutes of the regular Council meeting held February 8, 1955 Here approved <br /> <br />as read. <br /> <br />Ci ty Hanager Mathewson reported to Council, in response to an inquiry from <br /> <br />Attorney R. R. Young, representing the local industrial group, that data is <br /> <br />now being compiled by the City's tax consultant on business-occupational license <br /> <br />taxation and that the City's Special Business License Tax Comr.oittee should <br /> <br />receive this information shortly and should begin to function within the next <br /> <br />thirt;y- days. <br /> <br />In exchange for a thirty-foot right-of-way to be dedicated by Sale Knitting Company, <br /> <br />Inc. to the City of Martinsville for the proposed extension of Wj_ngfield street <br /> <br />westward and pending the recording of right-of-way deed, Council approved for <br /> <br />City Hanager Mathewson's signature a deed (dated February 7, 1955) whereby the <br /> <br />Ci ty would return to Sale Knitting Company a triangular tract of land on <br /> <br />Wingfield Street previously deeded to the City of Martinsville b:- Sale Knitting <br /> <br />Company. <br /> <br />Upon the conditions that the following 1rrater lines be constructed 1rlithout expense <br /> <br />to the City but in accordance with the City's specifications and that said lines <br /> <br />will be installed within sixty (60) days from this date or prior to adoption by <br /> <br />Council of a new subdivision ordinance now under consideration, whichever is the <br /> <br />shorter period, Council granted Lanier Farm, Inc. permission to construct and <br />
