<br />33 <br /> <br />TUES DAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 8, 1955 <br /> <br />......- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martirnville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, On <br /> <br />Tuesday, February 8, 1955, at 7::30 P.M., with the following members being present: <br /> <br />Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett; and Councilmen C. P. Craig, B. H. Hill, and W. T. <br /> <br />Turner. Coun:;ilman J. R. )'[alker was absent. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Council meeting held January 25, 1955, upon being read, were <br /> <br />approved. <br /> <br />Before beginning the regular order of business, Mayor Hodnett recognized the various <br /> <br />Boy Scouts, who were serving as City Officials for February 8th in the observance of <br /> <br />Boy Scout Government Day, and other visitors present. <br /> <br />~" <br />~~ <br />i <br /> <br />The following ordinance amending Subsection II of Section 62 of the City's Traffic <br /> <br />and Safety Code (which Section 62 is known as the IITaxicab Ordinance"), as placed on <br /> <br />first reading January 25, 1955, was unanimousl;)r adopted: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />meeting assembled this 8th day of February, 1955, that Paragraph II of Section <br />62 of Title VI of the Traffic and Safety Code of the City of Martinsville be and <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />.,- <br /> <br />11. INSURANCE <br />No taxicab or for-hire car shall be operated on the streets of Martinsville <br />City unless the OVIrer and driver thereof is protected by liability insurance <br />issued by a company authorized to do business in the State of Virginia, which <br />policy shalJ. be in the sum of at least $25,000.00 for injury to one person, <br />$50,000.00 for one accident, and $5,000.00 property damage; such policy or <br />policies shall carry a rider requirin;s 10 days I notice to Martinsville City <br />prior to cancellation of same; and satisfactory evidence shall be filed with <br />the City's Police Departm:mt shewing that such insura.nce is in effect. <br /> <br />In honor and memory of former Councilman Robert A. Fontaine, who died February 5, <br /> <br />1955, C ounc il adopted the fo 11 owing resolution: <br />
