S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, on <br /> <br />TueSday, January n, 1955, at 7:30 P.M., with all members present, as follOWs: Mayor <br /> <br />J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />and Councilman R. S. HodneU; and Councilmen C. P. Craig, B. II. Hill, W. T. Wade, Pastor of PilGrim Bapti.st Church, was referred to City <br /> <br />-~f <br />.~ <br />~ <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Announcement was made by Ci"o/ :Manager Mathewson of the tramfer of Ben,ja.'11in C. Winn <br /> <br />from the City's Electric Division to the Inspection Department as Assistant Inspector, <br /> <br />effective January 13, 1955, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of <br /> <br />E. William Campbell. <br /> <br />In response to Council's recent request, members ai' the City School Board through <br /> <br />I.~. L. Carper, School Super:i_ntendent, presented cost estimaijes of $565,000.00 and <br /> <br />$45,000.00 for the constnlction of a new Albert Harris High School building and a <br /> <br />three-rooT:l addition to the East Martimvllle Elementa.-.-vy School, respectively, for <br /> <br />which the cost of preliminary plans would am01JJ1t to no nore than One per cent (I%) <br /> <br />of the Albert Harris School estimate and, if and when final plans are completed, would <br /> <br />be credited towards the cost of final plans, which would cost a total of five per cent <br /> <br />(5%) of accepted bids, such total plans costs to include supervision of construction <br /> <br />by the architect. Upon motion, duly seOJ nded and uhanimously carried, Council authorized <br /> <br />plans, charges for which would not become payable before July I, 1955. <br /> <br />the School Board to employ such architectural service for the preparing 01' preliminary <br /> <br />------------.-...- <br />
