Donavant. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council aDproved as read the minutes of its regu.lar meeting <br /> <br />held Janmry "13, 1959. <br /> <br />A proposed ordinance, as placed on first reading January 13, 1959, which would amend <br /> <br />Section 18-3 of the City Code (pertaining to sel.ler connection regulations), was placed <br /> <br />on second reading for further consideration at Council's next regular meeting. <br /> <br />mi~g <br />i~T: <br />16.\2'" <br />"'Ii <br />,~ <br /> <br />Council continued to its next regular meeting (February 10, 1959) further consideration, <br /> <br />also, of the naming of nominees for appointment to the 1959 Board of Equalization and <br /> <br />fi11ing impending vacancies on the Human Values Conrrnission. <br /> <br />- <br />Council acknov:ledged receipt of a letter dated January 19, 1959, from lfr. C. T. l.Jilliams, <br /> <br />, <br />Jr., President of Southv:estern Virginia Gas Company, indicating that after he and his <br /> <br />associates have studied the sugi';ested gas franchise terms recently for\-Tarded by the <br /> <br />City he '..JOuld accept Council's invitation to confer with the COlillcil on such franchise <br /> <br />terms and cono.itions. <br /> <br />Pursuant to a recent request from Councilman BraWl, City Hanager Eirst presenteo a report <br /> <br />describing the City's motorized equipment and its usage. Co'mcilman Brown asked that <br /> <br />a6d:I.tional information be comp:L1ed by the 11anagor which might form the basis for <br /> <br />comparing the prosent cost of maintaining and operating this equipment with the cost <br /> <br />of renting motorized equipment \-Then and as noeded should the City discontinue the policy <br /> <br />of oWling and maintaining its fleet of trucks and equipment used in constrlJCtion '.fork. <br />
