Shlu~ate's request for funds to enable him to employ an additional <br />clerk for his office. <br /> <br />City ~nnafer Hirst anno~~ced the appointment and promotion by him of Lieutenant <br /> <br />Emory J. 301ejack, of the Police Department, as Chief of Police, effective <br /> <br />January 26, 1959. <br /> <br />City l1anager Hirst presented for Council's consideration, in advance of the <br /> <br />preparation of the City's 1959-60 budget, a description of some twenty-one <br /> <br />capital outlay projects "desirable to the physical improvement and grm.Jth of <br /> <br />the city". COlillcil i:1dicated that it T..Jould li};:e to vieu the sites of the proposed <br /> <br />irrlprovements and perhaps give further consideration to these projects at its next <br /> <br />regular meeting. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the Fire Department's 1958 (annual) report <br /> <br />preparatory to the presentation at a later date on behalf of the National Fire <br /> <br />Protective Association of outstanding auards 1-l0n by the local firemen for their <br /> <br />1958 fire prevention program. <br /> <br />A suggestion offered by Councilman BrOim 1.JaS referred to City Innager Hirst <br /> <br />whereby thought and study be given to revising the City's regulations governing <br /> <br />annual leave of employees. <br /> <br />COQ~cil took no action on a renewed request ~J ~T.
