<br />324 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 10, 1958 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />Tuesday, June 10, 1958, at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, as follows: Mayor <br /> <br />and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and Councilmen <br /> <br />C. C. Donavant, B. H. Hill, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular IlJgeting <br /> <br />held May 27, 1958 and of its special meeting held May 31, 1958. <br /> <br />In connection with Council's special meeting of May 31st, in which Council regretfully <br /> <br />received and accepted the resignation of Mr. William F. Stone as City Attorney, <br /> <br />Council adopted the following resolution acknOW'ledging with gratitude and apprecia- <br /> <br />tion the distinguished service rendered the City and its citizens by Mr. Stone while <br /> <br />serving as City Attorney: <br /> <br />WHERF.AS, on May 31, 1958 Martinsville City Council regretfully received and <br />regretfully accepted the resignation of William F. Stone as City Attorney; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Stone has served the City or Martinsville as its City Attorney <br />for more tllan eleven years, during which tenure not only did he faithfully <br />and efficiently discharge his duties and responsibilities but also gave most <br />generously of his time and efforts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Stone1s able and wise counsel over the years has been of <br />incalculable benefit in the guidance and conduct of CitJr affairs; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsv:iJ.le, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this tenth day of June, 1958, that it hereby <br />expresses cognizance and sincere appreciation or the distinguished service <br />rendered the City and its citizens by Mr. stOl1il3; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this expression is offered as a tribute to Mr. <br />Stone as friend and associate, whose conduct-both personal and professiona.l- <br />has amays reflected and exemplified the highest standards, bringing credit <br />upon the City and upon the office of City Attorney; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER. RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be made a part of Council's <br />official minutes of meeting or this date, that a copy be forwarded to Mr. <br />Stone, and that copies be furnished the local radio and press and the ~ague <br />of Virginia Municipalities. <br />
