..-- '~~ L.......<~..... "'-" ~ ,- 21 TUESDAY FEBRUARY 4, 1958 A special and duly-called lIeeting of the Council of the Ci"o/ of lfartinsville, Virginia, with Mayor John W . Shultz pres iding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, February 4, 1958, at 7:30 P.M., with all members being present, as follOW's: Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and Councilmen C. C. Donavant, B. H. Hill, and J. R. Walker. The purpose of this meeting was to consider and act upon any matters of business presented to Council. After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting held January 11., 1958. By letter the State Water Control Board informed Council that the hearing originally scheduled for January to consider issuing directives to the City of Martinsville has been postponed until March 18, 1958 in Richmond, Virginia. Council, meanwhile, suggested a special meeting to develop a definite plan or proposal for presentation to the Board in conrection with local sewerage system improvement needs. Upon receipt of the following Planning Comnrl.ssion recorrnnendation (dated Jarmary 29, 1958) pertaining to increased "B-1 Business" depth zoning along Memorial Boulevard South (West side--proj:erties owned by George L. Nease, J. A. Nolen, and J. H. Anderson), Council ordered a duly-advertised public hearing to be held on this proposal on February 25, 195 8: Gentlemen: Your Planning Connnission at its regular lIeeting on November 19, 1957, considered a petition referred to them by Council from Mr. George L. Nease relative to an increase in the depth of the present B-1 Business zoning along the west side of Memorial Boulevard near DuPont Road intersection. After due consideration of this request, your Commission advertised a public hearing for January 21, 1958 at 2 :00 P.M. on a proposal to rezone all properties not presently zoned as B-1 Business to B-1 Business within the following boundaries:
