Shultz pres iding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br /> <br />Tuesday, February 4, 1958, at 7:30 P.M., with all members being present, as follOW's: <br /> <br />Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and <br /> <br />Councilmen C. C. Donavant, B. H. Hill, and J. R. Walker. The purpose of this meeting <br /> <br />was to consider and act upon any matters of business presented to Council. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting held <br /> <br />January 11., 1958. <br /> <br />By letter the State Water Control Board informed Council that the hearing originally <br /> <br />scheduled for January to consider issuing directives to the City of Martinsville has <br /> <br />been postponed until March 18, 1958 in Richmond, Virginia. Council, meanwhile, <br /> <br />suggested a special meeting to develop a definite plan or proposal for presentation <br /> <br />to the Board in conrection with local sewerage system improvement needs. <br /> <br />Upon receipt of the following Planning Comnrl.ssion recorrnnendation (dated Jarmary 29, <br /> <br />1958) pertaining to increased "B-1 Business" depth zoning along Memorial Boulevard <br /> <br /> <br />South (West side--proj:erties owned by George L. Nease, J. A. Nolen, and J. H. <br /> <br />Anderson), Council ordered a duly-advertised public hearing to be held on this proposal <br /> <br />on February 25, 195 8: <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />Your Planning Connnission at its regular lIeeting on November 19, 1957, <br />considered a petition referred to them by Council from Mr. George L. Nease <br />relative to an increase in the depth of the present B-1 Business zoning <br />along the west side of Memorial Boulevard near DuPont Road intersection. <br />After due consideration of this request, your Commission advertised a <br />public hearing for January 21, 1958 at 2 :00 P.M. on a proposal to rezone <br />all properties not presently zoned as B-1 Business to B-1 Business within <br />the following boundaries: <br />
