Nease. <br />After further consideration of the petition and of existing circumstances <br />rela.ting to this petition, the Cormnission voted unanimously to make the <br />follovling recommendation to Council: <br /> <br />Tha t all properties lying; wi thin the boundaries described above <br />not presently zoned as B-1 Business be rezoned to the B-1 <br />Business classification. <br /> <br />This recoIIlTlEmation is in line with the Commission's policy of giving <br />consideration to natural boundary lines or property lines in a rezoning <br />request provided the request constitutes orderly development of the <br />City. <br /> <br />The Commission respectfully submits the above recoIllmmdation for Councills <br />further consideration. <br /> <br />Yours very truly, <br /> <br />S. Hedgecock, Secretary <br /> <br />Noting that the Planning Commission has approved the Lanier Farm, Inc. subdivision <br /> <br />plans in an area scheduled for development outside the corporate limits between <br /> <br />Lake Lanier and Old Danville Road, Council approved for City Manager Hirst's <br /> <br />signature a contract between Lanier Farm, Inc. and the City of Martinsville setting <br /> <br />forth conditions under 'which Lanier Farm will be permitted to extend the City's <br /> <br />water lines into the area. This contract requires the developer to comply with <br /> <br />the City I s ret.'Ulations governing water line extensions outside of the corporate <br /> <br />limits although the construction of sewer lines may be deferred until such time <br /> <br />as the CitJ.r begins its sevrerage system improvement program. <br /> <br />By unanimous action, Council approved for Mayor Shultz' signature a deed conveying <br /> <br />2.55 acres of land to the Cormnonwealth of Virginia (State Highway Department) in <br /> <br />connection with the proposed construction of a new bridge and higrn'lay over Smith <br /> <br />River south of the City's sout.J" corporate limit. <br />
