<br />260 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 14. 1958 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting or the Council of the City or Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council <br />Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, January 14, 1958, at 7:,30 P.M., the <br />following members being pre sent I Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; <br />Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and Counoibum O. C. Donavant. <br />Oouncihlan B. H. Hill was absent because of illness and Councilman J. R. <br />Walker was out of tow. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular <br />meeting held January 2, 1958. <br /> <br />Oity Manager Hirst presented a proposed and supplementary contract with the <br />Martinsville-Henry County Airport Development Corporation pertaining to the <br />airport group's request presented to Council on September 24, 1957. This <br />contract provided for the leasing of 1.92 acres of the City's airport <br />property for a period of five years, with an annual rental of .50.00, all <br />in addition to the terms and conditions of the lease agreement already in <br />effect between the City and the airport group. The airport group proposed <br />to construct additional hangar facilities, estimated to cost $4,800.00, at <br />no expense to the City and in accordance with City building code requirements. <br />The facilities would be maintained at no expense to the City and would become <br />the property of the City at the end of the five-year period; however, should <br />the City terminate the agreement before the end of the rive-year period, the City <br />would reimburse the aiport group for the unamortized cost of the facility. <br />Council unanimously approved the contract and authorized City Manager Hirst <br />to execute same on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />Upon City Manager Hirst's recommendation, Council approved a proposed easement <br /> <br /> <br />agreement between the City and Mr. George L. Nease permitting ingress and egress <br />
