<br />4 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />~C]1, }-3" 1962 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meetirg of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, March 13, 1962, at 7:15 P.M., all members being present, viz., <br /> <br />Mayor and Councilman J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor and Councilman Fred T. Renick; <br /> <br />am Councilmen Thomas J. Burch, E. E. Stone, and Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />/"....- <br /> <br />After the irwocation, Council approved as read the ninutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held February 27, 1962. <br /> <br />In giving further consideration to the petition submitted at Council's February <br /> <br />27th meetirg by Attorney Charles L. McCormick, III, requesting the vacating of <br /> <br />unopened Azalea Street, Council named as a Board of Viewers-to proceed under <br /> <br />Section 15-766 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, and as amended, Messrs. I. M. <br /> <br />Groves, Sr., J. E. Zentrreyer, and Whitney Shumate. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst infornBd Council that because of inclement weather the <br /> <br />originally-scheduled visit of Ma,jor General Paul M. Booth, Adjutant General of <br /> <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia, to view local sites for the proposed location of <br /> <br />a new National Guard Armory, has been postponed to March 28th. <br /> <br />.......- <br /> <br />City Mana.ger Hirst also informed Council that the City has received an offer of <br /> <br />~P1.h4,600.00 Federal Aid towards a phase of the City's sewerage system improvements <br /> <br />progr8m and, also, documents--if executed--indicating acceptance of this award as <br /> <br />well as compliance with certain provisions required by various governmental <br /> <br />agencies. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized <br /> <br />the execution, by the City, of the acceptance document, sub,ject to the approval <br /> <br />thereof by the Cit,y Attorney. <br />
