Bach, Chairman) of the Martinsville-Henry <br /> <br />County Chamber of Commerce presented certain recommendations--which Council <br /> <br />ackn~fledged ~dth appreciation--pertaining to local procedures used in the <br /> <br />collection of delinquent personal proper~ taxes. <br /> <br />C oup..cil also acknowledged with appreciation receipt of the 1961 annual report <br /> <br />of the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company. <br /> <br />Counci I referred to the Plannirg Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a petition submitted by :Mr. am Mrs. Max White, of Martinsville <br /> <br />Real Estate Agency, requesting the rezoning from "A-2 Residentialll to lIP_2 <br /> <br />Professionalll the petitioners' property located at 705 Starling Avenue. <br /> <br />Council named the following men, as representing the City, to a joint City- <br /> <br />County Committee to stuqy local a:ir transportation needs and facilities: <br /> <br />Messrs. E. E. Stone, Councilman; R. P. Gravely, Jr.; R. M. Simmons, Sr.; <br /> <br />Garland T. laPrade; and Wm. F. Franck. <br /> <br />Council was advised by a representative of the Norfolk & Western Railway <br /> <br />Company that his company has made temporary improvements to Railroad Street <br /> <br />and would hope that permanent improvements may be made in the near future, <br /> <br />the Norfolk & Western owning the right-of-way for this street. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />w.
