<br />3( <br /> <br />TUBS DAY <br /> <br />MAY 23, 1961 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeti~ of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />Tuesday, May 23, 1961, at 7:15 P.M., and with all members present, viz., Mayor and <br /> <br />Councilman J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor and Councilman Fred T. Renick; and Councilmen <br /> <br />Thomas J. Burch, E. E. Stone, and Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />~ <br />./ <br /> <br />After the invocation, the Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held May 9, 1961, and of its special meeting held May 15, 1961. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the followi~ written report of the Board of Viewers <br /> <br />appointed May 9, 1961, to determine if any inconvenience--and if any, what incon- <br /> <br />venience-would result in the closing and vacating of a portion of Cheshire Street <br /> <br />in connection with a petition filed April 25, 1961, by Mr. James B. Jones, Jr., <br /> <br />requesting such vacating and abandoning: <br /> <br />Your undersigned three viewers, appointed by the Council of the City of <br />Mar t:ins ville, Virginia to view the proposed abandonment of that portion <br />of Cheshire Street just off Broad Street lying in front of Lots No.6, <br />7 and 8, from the east line of Lot No. 6 to its intersection with the <br />north lire of Memorial Boulevard as shown on Section No. 42 of the tax <br />map, do report that they have been to the scene and viewed the property <br />in question and that in their opinion there vIill be no inconvenience to <br />the public generally from the discontinuance and abandonment of that <br />portion of said street hereinabove described. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />We the undersigned viewers do hereby further report that we think it is <br />in the best interest of the City to discontinue and abandon that portion <br />of the street hereinabove described. <br /> <br />Given under our hands this 19th day of May, 1961. <br /> <br />R.
