<br />3( <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />Mf'.Y 9~ X~~ <br /> <br />The regular s emi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor J. !Tank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br /> <br />Tuesday, May 9,1961, at 7:15 P.M., and with all members present, viz.: Mayor and <br /> <br />Councilman J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor and Councilman Fred T. Renick; and Councilmen <br /> <br />Thomas J. Burch, E. E. stone, and Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />."....- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held April 25, 1961. <br /> <br />In connection with the following letter from Forest Park Country Club's Board of <br /> <br />Directors, City Manager Hirst observed that (1) he is uncertain as to what the Country <br /> <br />Club has withdrawn and that in his opinion negotiations with the Country Club are <br /> <br />still in process pertaining to the locating of the Mulberry Creek Sewer Interceptor <br /> <br />Line; (2) an alternate route report is being prepared; (3) the contract for the <br /> <br />Druid Hills-Forest Park collector phase might be let to contract within the next <br /> <br />thirty days; and further (4), Mr. Hirs t s tressed the importance of resolvi~ the <br /> <br />problem with the Country Club inasmuch as the availability and receiving of Federal <br /> <br />aid trn..ards the construction of a sewage disposal plant is contingent upon satis- <br /> <br />factori1y resolving the ques.tion of location of the Mulberry Creek Interceptor: <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council of the City of Martinsville <br />Mar tins ville , Virginia <br /> <br />Gentlenen: <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />This is to notify the City of Martinsville that Forest Park Country <br />Club, Incorporated hereby withdraws the proposal made several months ago <br />to give the City of Martinsville, without any charge whatsoever, a right- <br />of-way across its property for the construction of a sewer line. This <br />proposed gift provided a right-of-way with gravitational flow across our <br />property to the proposed site of the sewage treatrrent plant. This pro- <br />posal was made on the assumption that the City of Martinsville found it <br />necessary to proceed immediately wi th construction of a sewer line across <br />our property, but since we have received no response from the City of <br />Martinsville since this proposal was made, and sime we are now in the <br />process of making additional capital improvements in the area that this <br />
