<br />2E <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JA:\JT]ARY 24. 1961 <br /> <br />The regular semi-montluy meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, 1>rith Mayor J. Frank Wilson pres:l.ding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, January 24,1961, at 7:15 P.H., and with all members present <br /> <br />with the exception of Councilman Thomas J. Burch, viz., Mayor and Councilman <br /> <br />J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor and Councilman Fred T. Renick; and Councilmen E. E. <br /> <br />Stone and Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held January 10, 1961. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a <br /> <br />request, previously approved by the Planning Commission, of Hr. F. B. Hill that <br /> <br />the residue-consisting of some thirty feet in depth measured from the back prcmert3r <br /> <br />Hne--of a lot olmed by him and located between Memorial Boulevard and Lavinder <br /> <br />Street be rezoned from "A-2 Residential" to ":8-1 Business", thus to anply the <br /> <br />business zoning to the entire lot. There being no objections registered by anyone, <br /> <br />Council effected said requested rezoning and accepted the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />recommendations thereon by adopting the foJJ.owing ordinance amending the City's <br /> <br />-,,-'" <br /> <br />Zoning Code and Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of MlrtinsvHle, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled January 24, 1961, that tre City's Zoning <br />Code and Zoning Map be and are hereb7 amended to c:'lassify as ":8-1 <br />Business", for zoning nurposes, the residue of a lot--which residue <br />heretofore has been zoned "A-2 Residential"--ovmed by 1~. F. B. Hill <br />and located between Memorial Boulevard and Lavinder Street. <br /> <br />Cmlncil acknowledged an interim report on efforts being made ~! 11artinsville Go-Kart <br /> <br />Club to minimize exhaust noises from the small motorized vehicles used by members <br /> <br />of the Club at the site made available by Council within the City's airport tract. <br /> <br />Council also aclmowledgen receipt of the follO'..ring letter dated Janua!":'{ 23, 1961, <br /> <br />from ~~.
