<br />1~ <br /> <br />TtJESDA Y <br /> <br />JUNE 14. 1960 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Mlrtinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br />City Hall, Tuesday, June 14, 1960, at 7:15 P..M., all members of Council being <br />present, as follows: Mayor and Councilman John W.. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and <br />Councilman E. E. Stone; and Councilmen Thomas J. Burch, Clarence C. Donavant, <br />and J. Frank Wilson. <br /> <br />/...-.., <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as rean the minutes of its regular <br />meeting held May 24, 1960. <br /> <br />Upon request of Attorney Marvin L. Hill, counsel for Mrs. Freda D. Worthington <br />and Mr. A. C. Drewry, petitioners, Council directed that a duly-advertised <br />public hearing be conducted by Cmmcil at its regular meeting to be held June <br />28, 1960, on petitioners' request that their property located at the southeast <br />corner of Church and Cleveland Streets be rezoned to "B-1 Business", which request <br />the City Planning Commission on May 24, 1960, recommended be denied.. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from City Manager Hirst pertaining to the several <br /> <br /> <br />recent requests for relief from the current sewer service charges imposed (viz., <br /> <br /> <br />on community swimming pools, private swimming pools, large industrial water users, <br /> <br />and instances where water service lines have broken), Council directed that City <br /> <br /> <br />Manager Hirst prepare a revision of the sewer service charge ordinance to permit <br /> <br /> <br />reasonable adjustments of sewer service charges where broken water service lines <br /> <br /> <br />are involved. <br /> <br />,--.. <br /> <br />Council continued, pending a recommended nominee from the Retail Merchants <br /> <br /> <br />Association, the filling of vacancies and/or the appointing of new members to the <br /> <br />Citizens' Parking Committee, <br />
